Little Funhouse

Our infants and toddler’s house

Space and time to explore, learn and grow

Little Funhouse is our dedicated infants and toddler’s house. We welcome up to 20 infants and toddlers each day at a ratio of 1:4 to ensure responsive, nurturing care.

Our youngest enjoy a calm and safe baby room where they can play, explore and develop skills at their own pace while having their individual needs supported. We also have a mobile infants and toddlers lounge which flows out onto a deck and our outdoor learning environment providing opportunity for free movement between learning spaces and open exploration.

At our centre, we prioritise free movement for babies, allowing them the time and space to develop naturally. Rather than placing babies into positions they cannot achieve themselves, we support them to build strength, coordination, and confidence at their own pace through movement and exploration.
This approach continues into mealtimes. We don’t have highchairs at funhouse instead, babies who cannot yet sit unaided are supported on a teacher’s knee. As they develop, they transition to sitting at the table in our specialised chairs, supporting independence and a strong sense of belonging.

Responsive to the rhythms of our children

At Little Funhouse we understand that each child has their own unique rhythm. Depending on their age and stage of development he/she will have different needs for sleep, play, and care. Our daily routine is flexible and responsive, allowing us to follow the individual rhythms of each child while also working closely with the routines established by you, their whanau.
Between meeting each child’s individual care needs, we provide a free play, child- led curriculum. We offer a wide range of resources, equipment and experiences including a strong connection to the natural world as a proud enviroschool, that support and stimulate our children in all the different areas of their development.
